As part of our Tor Bridge High Book Week and World Book Day 2021 celebrations, we decided to base our reading and cross curricular activities on the theme of Kindness. The Kindness theme took many forms across Tor Bridge High and across all year groups including: • Daily reading of books by staff to students linked to the theme of kindness, • Poetry writing based on the theme of kindness, • Get Wordy – how many different words can be made out of the phrase ‘kindness is contagious’? • Get Creative – making kindness posters to display at home, • Undertaking random acts of kindness as part of the Tor Bridge High Fun Friday Challenge, • Making a kindness pledge • Art based lessons on the theme of kindness, • Kindness in the community.
Consequently, we are thrilled to share that the Tor Bridge High staff and students’ commitment to kindness has been rewarded with accreditation from KindnessUK an independent, not-for-profit organisation with the goal of making kindness a greater part of everyone’s daily lives and increasing the awareness of the positive benefits of kindness to health and the overall wellbeing of society.
Whilst our Kindness activities were launched as an initiative to link with our School’s Book Week and World Book Day 2021 celebrations, we plan to ensure the theme of Kindness is continued throughout the year, including it in our return-to-school mantra ‘Work hard, be kind, love learning’.
We are thrilled to have received the accreditation in recognition of excellence in kindness. Moreover, we know our teachers, staff and students will continue their amazing kindness initiatives. What a great start to the summer term!
