What Will I Study?
Students experience a range of activities and develop their understanding of the benefits of physical. In addition, students develop the impact of physical education on themselves. Core themes within lessons enable students to access key theoretical content, developing students’ knowledge and understanding of how an active lifestyle has a positive impact upon an individual. Personal development in areas such as, resilience, team work, communication, copying with defeat and striving for excellence are just some areas where physical education has a whole school impact on Tor Bridge High students.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Hands – There physical literacy. Building on the fundamental skills developed during primary and applying these skills in a range of sports and activities.
Head – Cognitive development such as selecting the correct tactic, or selecting the correct pass. As well as being able to analyse a variety of aspects of excellent performance.
Heart – Developing resilience, teamwork and communication skills. Along with leading a part or all of a session/skill drill. Drive and determination, rising to challenges such as working hard during a tough fitness session.
Other PE Experiences
Students have access to an extensive range of extracurricular clubs and compete at level 1,2 and 3 competitions. Students are signposted to further links with local clubs. External coaches offer further experiences throughout the curriculum. Opportunities to develop and enhance leadership skills through our Sports Leadership Academy. This positive relationship with sports providers are utilised to sign post students who wish to take their experiences or commitments to physical exercise further.

We aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to thrive physically (Hands), mentally (Head), and emotionally (Heart). Our program includes interactive lessons on nutrition, physical activity, emotional intelligence, and coping strategies.
